Music Psychology Workshops
Steeplechase Arts offers a variety of workshops focused on music psychology. Our workshops target different age groups and levels of music expertise, from absolute beginners to professional musicians. The workshops use music in an active way to promote different life skills, like creativity, decision making, self esteem, and critical thinking. We have also developed workshops aimed at promoting healthy aging, managing emotions, facing performance anxiety, fostering cooperation, working on a personal sense of identity, and mediating conflicts.

Barbara Colombo, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Champlain College (http://www.champlain.edu/academics/our-faculty/colombo-barbara). She has been teaching at the university level for more than fifteen years and has been applying neuroscience techniques both in research labs and medical settings (including hospitals, assisted-living communities, and physical rehabilitation centers). She also has many years of experience empowering the life skills of children, teenagers, adults, and seniors —with the support of music. All of these experiences are mirrored in her over seventy-five scientific publications.
As well, Barbara Colombo is a highly respected viola da gamba player. She has been performing with many Renaissance and Baroque ensembles in Europe, and she cofounded two of them: The Fairyround and the Toccati e in fuga (with flutist and tenor Gabriele Prinelli). |
